The tour offers a great overview of Manchester; taking in key buildings and entertains with historic and up to date facts about the city.
Here is a taster to wet your appetite; from previous Discover Manchester tours I’ve led.
We step inside Central Library admiring the Shakespeare window.
Muse over architecure; left is the curve of Central Library. Connected to the Town Hall extension (right) by the modern entrance at Library walk. Both are 1930s buildings by Emmanuel Vincent Harris.
Moving into Albert Square; the majestic Manchester Town Hall by architect Alfred Waterhouse (currently closed for refurbishment until 2024) shows the 1877 Victorian wealth and civic pride.
Above Deansgate, one of the main streets in the City and new development emerging beyond.
Above the impressive interior at John Rylands Library is always a show stopper for new visitors.
Above; a collage of delights inside the Royal Exchange. This building is now houses a theatre, craft shop, restaurant, offices and shops. From 1800s – 1960s this building was the cotton exchange, a hotbed of deals and commerce.
The tour finishes near Manchester Cathedral.
Whether you are a local, a new comer or just passing through. The Daily Discover Manchester walking tour is a fabulous showcase of what the city has to offer.
